Posted: 12/16/11 Friday, March 2, 2012, 9:00am–3:30pm American Family Insurance Campus, Madison ASID & IIDA have once again teamed up to host the annual WI Interior Design Student Career Day. This year’s event is being held on Friday, March 2 from 9:00am- 3:30pm at the American Family Insurance campus in Madison. We are inviting you to be an educator for the day, in which you can share your experience and advice with those who will soon be joining the industry or are studying to do so. This event is geared for students: traditional and non-traditional alike. Please see attached letter for more information!
2011 ASID WI DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARD CELEBRATION In developing the theme for this year’s awards event, the ASID WI Design Excellence Awards Committee envisioned a celebration with a “classic” feel. When a theme built around “Mad Men” was suggested, it was embraced with the idea of reflecting on a time period considered by many as the classic age of design in the 20th Century. When used as an adjective, “classic” can mean of the highest class or being a model of its kind. As a noun, a “classic” can be a person who is an exceptionally talented writer or artist. We encourage you to be MAD about Design: come to a CLASSIC event…wear RED…and CELEBRATE all that is good about design and our talented community! Date: Thursday, March 15, 2012 Time: 5:30 P.M. – 11:00 P.M. Place: Bradley Pavilion at Marcus Performing Arts Center – Milwaukee Invitations will be mailed in early January, with RSVP’s due March 2nd. Attendees will be able to register and select menu items via a PayPal link on the ASID WI website, activated after January 10th. In conjunction with the Sponsorship Committee, the Awards Committee is hoping to offer sponsorship opportunities at this signature event. Get ready to celebrate…it’s going to be RED HOT! Thanks to all the professional members and students who submitted projects for award consideration! We appreciate your patience with our chapter’s new sustainable submittal process. Change is a constant, and we all learned about this new process together. Thank you again for your understanding and comments as we look to make positive changes and advancement!

STEP Course Put on Hold ASID National has announced that major changes are being implemented to the STEP programs in 2012. ASID recognizes the importance of providing up-to-date, timely and cost effective NCIDQ preparation course. Due to recent decline in attendance and continuing changes to the NCIDQ exam, STEP requires a much needed reorganization and refresh. For this reason, our plan to host a STEP Course in February of 2012 in the Milwaukee area is being put on hold, and will be revisited when more information is available. For further details, or if you are interested in taking a STEP Course in the fall, contact Aga Artka at agaartka@gmail.com.
Appellation Update Beginning, January 1, 2012, allied and student members may shorten their appellation to “John Doe, Allied ASID” and “John Doe, Student ASID.” Members will not be penalized if they have the word “member”in their designation, but rather, this is now an option. If this applies to you and you are in the process of printing new business materials, you may apply the shortened version now.
